listening report week 6
video
1.Main idea: A plane crashed near Rawalpindi, Paskistan.
2.Tone: informative because they let us know that information.
3.Organization: There is no controversy in the report; something is described about.
4.Summary: The plane was flying and it was almost near the airport when it went down. The news people were going through debris which included plane parts and body parts. So far 131 deaths have been counted, but the crash was near a residential area so there could be more deaths, but they don't know for sure yet.
5.My opinion: I choose this video because this is the second crash with a plane in the last month.

1.Main idea: To show new evedence in a case and to continue the search for Ethan's body.
2.Audience: Author intended to everyone who has kid in their family.
3.Purpose: The show new evidence in the case of Ethan Patz, who disappeared in 1979 from Brooklyn, New york. New evidence brought them to a carpenter that was a suspect when the case first started. Police brought a dog that can smelled a human smell from the carpenter's basement, so they are going to dig in the cement for bones or other evidence.
4.Opinion: "We are cautiously optimistic" that the search will be helpful," FBI Special Agent Tim Flannelly said.
5. My opinion: I choose this article because it was the first article that sounded interesting, and because i wanted to see how they can still find evidence so many years later.

grammar review week 5
19-5 Expressing purpose : Using so that.
-In order to and So that express purpose.
Ex:
-I go to school in order to study.
-I sleep in order to getting healthier.
-So that + can/could = in order to. So that is often used instead of in order to when the idea of ability is being expressed. can and could are used in adverd clause, but can is used for present and future, could is another.
( The word "that" is often cut, especially in speaking.)
Ex:
-I'm going to call my dad so that I can ask for money.

+ Modifying adverbial phrases beginning with WHILE usually have the same meaning with during the same time.

*All of them are same meaning.
Ex2:
-While I was eating, my aunt was cleaning the kitchen.

1.Main idea: a man is asking the united nation to send observers into Syria because the violence continues.
2.Tone: Serious because it associates with perople's life.
3.Organization: One side of an issue is presented.
4.Summary; i learned that the Syrian governmment is flying helicopters around their own country and shooting missiles and bullets at cities and towns all over Syria.If the united nation goes into Syria 200 observers will be led by a Norwegian commader. He hopes they will be sent quickly so the country can get help.
5.My opinion: I choose this video because the problem will be bigger if the united nation don't support them.

reading report week 4

1.Main idea: People found a mammoth carcass 10,000 years ago in Siberia which has a completely body.
2.Audience: The author wants everyone know it because it is a history information , and it will give us the chance to create mammoth again.
3.Purpose: The author persuades they will create new mammoth very soon when they found a completely mammoth carcass. Even the ancient settlers took a lot of parts in his body, it is still good.
4.opinion: “This is the first relatively complete mammoth carcass – that is, a body with soft tissues preserved – to show evidence of human association,” from Daniel Fisher.
5.My opinion: I interested in this article because I have follow a mammoth's information for a long time ago, and we will have new kind of elephant if the scientist can discover the problem.

1.Main idea: The women usually drink coffee might be affect their children with the sleep of breast-fed babies.
2.Audience: the author intend to someone who are the mom because this article talking about the health babies when their mom use coffee.
3.Purpose: Crying and colic at 3 months old are not affected by mother's caffeine intake. The babies with mom using caffeine seem no more wake up than the babies with mom not using .The researchers figure out with 885 babies in 2004, and they seem to wake up whenever they want.
4.Opinion:"When we planned the study, we worked with the hypothesis of association between heavy maternal consumption of caffeine and higher infant awakenings at night," by Marlos Rodrigues Domingues.

Whether Or Not and Even If.
+ Whether or not: expresses the idea that neither this condition nor that condition matters; the result will be the same.
Ex:
-I'm going to school whether or not my car is disappeared.
-Whether or not I'm hungry, I'm going to sleep.
+ Even if: gives the idea that a particular condition does not matter. The result will not change.
Ex:
-Even if my leg is broken, I will go to school.
-Nobody believes me even if i have a video about UFO.
Especially, Sentences with even if are close in meaning to those with whether or not.
